    What I did:
Went to my-account, then addresses and then added TAX ID to my biling address.

    Observations:
    – TAX ID is not validated when entered in billing address
    – when I go to my-account, then account details the TAX ID field is empty and even if I enter TAX ID after sending the form the fields is still empty
    – when I want to checkout the TAX ID field is empty

Shouldn’t the TAX ID on checkout be automatically filled with that I entered in my billing address?

  • Hi kuebk,

    Thank you for contacting us.

I tested the scenario you described and encountered one issue related to validation when entering the TAX ID in the billing address on the My Account page. Please ensure you are using the latest version of the plugin (3.1.5). If the problem persists or there’s any additional behavior you’d like us to address, feel free to provide further details, and we’ll investigate it promptly, you can check this video.

Regarding the validation issue during the TAX ID entry, I will inform the development team about it and will let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

    Looking forward to your feedback!

I’m using latest versions of WooCommerce and your plugin and ufnortunately the VAT ID is not on the checkout form.

    BTW: what about account details?

    Hi Kuebk,

Please note that the issue you are facing might be related to a compatibility problem with the theme you are using or a conflict with another plugin. I would be happy to assist you in resolving this issue on your end if you grant us access using this email ([email protected]).

However, I would like to confirm that the plugin is working correctly on my end. I have tested it with both Classic and Blocks checkout enabled, and it is functioning as expected. You can verify this in this video.

I will try different template and see how it goes.

What about the TAX ID field in account details?

Spent some time to figure what is wrong and either this plugin doesn’t work at all or there is some higher level of magic involved.

Therea are two things wrong in includes/class-alg-wc-eu-vat-core.php:
    1. wrong filter name, you are using woocommerce_blocks_get_default_value_for_alg_eu_vat/billing_eu_vat_number, should be woocommerce_get_default_value_for_alg_eu_vat/billing_eu_vat_number – should be without blocks in the name
    2. the hook attached to this filter returns empty string – should return TAX ID from user_metadata or should use another callback

    Hi kuebk,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We really appreciate your time and effort.

To confirm, I tried entering the TAX ID in the “My Account” page, but it doesn’t save after pressing the save button. What you’ve shared is important and will help us investigate this issue further. I’ve already escalated this to the development team for a deeper look, and they’ll respond with a fix or an update soon.

One more thing I forgot to mention earlier: there’s an option called “Checkout block field” in the Admin & Advanced tab. If you’re using a block-based checkout, please ensure this option is enabled. It might help resolve some issues related to this scenario.

Thank you for your patience, and I’ll keep you informed as soon as I hear back from them.

    Hi, @kuebk,

Please update the plugin to the latest v3.2.4. I’ve fixed the issue with the field’s default value on the checkout page and in “My account > Account details”. Please give it a try and let me know what you think.

As for validating the VAT ID on the “My account” page – let me work on it and get back to you.

Seems to be working as expected – thank you!

BTW: why does this field show in both billing address and account details?

    Hi, @kuebk,

You are right, it shouldn’t be like that. The “Account details” field is added when the “Checkout block field” checkbox is enabled in our plugin. I’ve also noticed that the field is not properly updated in the “Account details”. I’m already working on this – it will be fixed in the next plugin version.

    Hi, @kuebk,

We released a new plugin version today (v4.0.0) – it’s now possible to enable the VAT ID validation in “My account > Addresses” with the “WPFactory > EU VAT > Validation & Progress > Validate in My account” checkbox. Also, we’ve removed the field from “My account > Account details”.

Please give it a try and let me know what you think.
