• Hello,

I use elegant themes for 16 blogs. I have w-3 total cache installed with MAX CDN and CloudFlare integrated.I use https://www.stablehost.com/enterprise-hosting.php EN basic plan for hosting.

I opened this topic because I think that right configuration of all these services would be helpful to every wordpress user. I found lots of helpful tutorial but there was not full one between the three of them. I configured my blogs according to these tutorials but I am not sure if I did that correct because W-3 total cache, MaxCDN and CloudFlare have similar features and I khow sometimes if you configure them wrong you might get slower Page Speed. I would like to khow what are the perfect settings when blogger use W-3 total cache, MAXCDN and Cloud Flare.

Here are my settings. Please give me an advice there is something wrong:

MAXCDN SETTINGS AT MAXCDN CONTROL PANEL
    For all my 16 zones:

    *Edge settings
    – GZip Compression (Hover to see compressible file types)
    – Query String (Treat as separate cacheable item)
    – Strip All Cookies (Ignore cookies in requests)

    I created four custom domains

I whitelisted CloudFlare IPs and My hosting IP

Pretty much everything is by default I added Strip All Cookies which is recommended when you use MAXCDN and CloudFlare.

    CLOUDFLARE SETTINGS

I updated their nameservers at my domain names provider

    Security profile – Low
    Performance profile – CDN only

I added CHAME for my custom domains at CloudFLare DNS settings.

I use Adsense and my hosting provider have mod_cloudflare so it is secure about that. But I don`t use minify and RocketLoader because I beleive i might have adsense problem and they usually breaks CDN.

    W-3 TOTAL CACHE SETTINGS:
Page Cache – Enabled – Disk Enhased
    *General
    I ticked:
    – Cache front page
    – Cache feeds: site, categories, tags, comments
    – Cache SSL (https) requests
    – Cache requests only for https://www.thetripblogger.com site address
    – Don’t cache pages for logged in users

*Automatically prime the page cache is ticked
    – Update interval: 900
    – Pages per interval: 10
    – Sitemap URL:https://www.thetripblogger.com/sitemap.xml (Created from Google XML Sitemaps plugin)

*Purge Policy Cache is by default

    *Advanced
    – Enable compatibility mode is ticked

    Minify is OFF
    Database cache is OFF
    Object Cache is OFF

    Browser Cache is ON
*General; CSS&JS; HTML&XML ; Media and Other Files
    I ticked:
    – Set Last-Modified header
    – Set expires header
    – Set cache control header
    – Set entity tag (eTag)
    – Set W3 Total Cache header
    – Enable HTTP (gzip) compression
    – Disable cookies for static files
    – Do not process 404 errors for static objects with WordPress

    Expires header lifetime:31536000 (CSS&JS)
    Expires header lifetime:3600 (HTML&XML)
Expires header lifetime:31536000 (Media and Other Files)

    CDN is ON (MAXCDN)
    *General I ticked :
    – Host attachments
    – Host wp-includes/ files
    – Host theme files
    – Host minified CSS and JS files
    – Host custom files
    – Add canonical header

    * Configuration :
    I added four custom domains
    *Advanced
I ticked Set cookie domain to “www.thetripblogger.com”

    Rederve Proxy is OFF

    CloudFlare is ON

    Monitoring is OFF

    Miscellaneous is OFF

    Debug is OFF

I think that is all. Here are my blog URLs if it is necessary to check how they load:

  • I have exactly the same combination of W3 Cache, MaxCDN and Cloudflare on my sites and all of the pages are now loading 5 times slower.

I have the combination set up on these sites:

    electnewmedia.com
    twentyfirstdigital.co.uk
    teeisland.co.uk
    cullenshouseclearance.co.uk
    kingpromocode.co.uk

I am going to double check your settings with my and will get back once I verify them. This is a really frustrating issue!

If anyone has some advice. Much welcomed right now.

I have had a look through the settings and it seems okay to me.

Have a play around with the W3 Cache settings, specifically turn off all but MaxCDN and Cloudflare.

Compare ‘full settings’ vs ‘MaxCDN and Cloudflare only’ via tools.pingdom.com

I notice that the MaxCDN and Cloudflare decreasing DNS look-up and therefore improving load time.

I am still looking for advice if my configuration are 100% right or if I can do something better in that case when I have these three services. Hope to see more opinions. Thank you electnewmedia ;]

They look fine to me, i guess if you want you can experiment with different settings and see which way things goes. But at the moment, they look fine.

    Thanks

    All right thank you Akhilendra.

you should prefer as few as possible subdomains,
as these most probably increase loading times

Why do you think that 4 custom domains may increase loading time. Usually creating subdomains help for Parallelize downloads across hostnames. When I check at https://tools.pingdom.com/ I get 100 grade for it. Do you think I don`t need four customa domains. Do yuo reccomend me to create less and why?

Do yuo have any other recommendation as you can see I don`t get 100 grade for all metrics according to https://tools.pingdom.com/?

you haven’t given a lot of information about the custom domains, do they serve any specific purpose?

MaxCDN and CloudFlare, as CDNs should do, already check which of their servers has the best response time and speed, and serve your content from there.
what you did is an attempt to load balance where there already IS load balancing?

    more domains increase lookup time.

i didn’t look at your pingdom metrics yet

I have four custom domains created at MAXCDN control panel. I added chames for these domains at cloudflare DNS settings for each blog (https://support.netdna.com/howto/use-cdn-with-cloudflare/).

The purpose of creating these four domains is because i think this helps me for Parallelize downloads across hostnames. .

I dont understandwhat you did is an attempt to load balance where there already IS load balancing?`

I beleive usuing CloudFlare and MAXCDN is better than using only one of them do you?
What do you recommended? Should I use less custom domains?
