    Hey Thomas,
Per your email to discuss new features requests, here’s one I’m finding would be helpful.

    Having conditions on GROUPS.

So, for example, I can say New User Is Not on an entire ad group and not have to create the condition for each ad. Besides a) easing the workflow by not having to create that condition per ad, more importantly b) it would allow the SAME ad to be used in multiple places conditionally; easier and in some case better for stats.

Continue reading if you want an example. On desktops, I want to display the ad group at the top of the right sidebar. On tablets and mobile, the right sidebar is pushed all the way beneath the main loop. So now I want that same ad group at the top of the main loop. Of course that requires two separate ad groups. But right now I have to create two copies of each ad. One with condition greater than or equal 1024 (desktop). One with condition less than or equal 1023 (mobile). If there was a way to put a condition on an ad group I could just create one ad and ad it to each group.

You, Thomas, would have to decide what happens if an ad and an adgroup BOTH have conflicting conditions. Does one override? Does it act as an AND? Can the user specify (very messy).

    Thanks!

    Hi topdotter,

thank you for your suggestion. This is indeed an important feature.

There is a way to have conditions per groups using the “ad group” ad type as described here.

While having conditions directly per group will not happen, I am thinking about two alternatives and would like to get your feedback on them:

    a) an ad can inherit display and visitor conditions from another (also updating automatically when they are changed).
    b) a placement could inherit the conditions from an ad

And yes, deciding how to override inherited conditions is a good question I have to face, too, at one point.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Thanks for the quick reply (as always ?? ).

I didn’t realize there’s an “Ad Group” ad-type. I’m first going to play with that before I make a comment on your question.

    Thanks for the hint Thomas!!!!
