condition not met but still generate errors from the widget

Hi. hope someone can help.

so I have condition setup for 2 widget. one that shows product archive and another that shows sub categories. got a value set to be either “show product” or “show subcategories”. but it seems to crash when it needs to show subcategories. I get PHP errors. if I remove the product grid I don’t get errors anymore.

it’s like the PHP and code is run no matter what I do to hide it.

any ideas?
