Compression Status Canceled

Thank you for contacting us. We’re sorry to hear that you’re having issues using the service and we would like to help you solve them. We may need a little more detail to diagnose the problem, but from what you describe I could imagine that the images you’re compressing are large. In this case it can happens that the compression takes too long and is cancelled. Are you able to send us the output of the PHP function phpinfo()? There is a setting max_execution_time that may be responsible for that.

I set my max execution time to 600 and the images I am trying to optimise are all under 1meg with most about 5-600k so they are not huge. Its weird how it worked perfectly to start with, did the first 10-15 images then just stopped working. We have quite a few websites and I was very impressed by the image savings and quality so I hope to get this working across the board.

We’re looking into this and can’t find anything wrong with your setup. 600 seconds should be enough, by far, for TinyPNG to complete the compression. Other customers have reported to us that setting max_execution_time wasn’t enough when they were hosted on WPEngine. Are you on that platform, by any chance?

I am currently using Bluehosts on an Optimised WordPress hosting account. Is there anything else you can suggest I try?

I think i managed to get it working. The only change i made was not to put images in month folders and it seems to be working OK for the minute. That was lucky ??
