    Hello,

    First, thank you for this plugin, it is exactly what I was looking for. I have made the decision to go with image quality over loading speed for my website. However, after installing, I ran some tests and not only does compression still seem to be active but actually more aggressive.

    I did a test with a jpeg file.

    Original = 48.9 KB
    Former upload of same file (pre-plugin) = 44.0 KB
    Original (48.9 KB) file renamed and re-uploaded (with plugin) = 40.0 KB

    As you can see, WordPress compressed by the standard 10% without the plugin. But the file was compressed by 20% once I added the plugin, and the image quality was noticeably lower when using the plugin. This seemed to have the opposite effect. Am I doing something wrong? Your help is much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Mike

  • Hi Mike, did you happen to find a plugin that does remove WordPress’ compression entirely? I’ve tried this one to the same results as you.

    @kittenhood, can you share your results please?
    Also, can you post the images you’ve tested with the plugin?

    Hi kittenhood, no I did not find an alternative. So, my resolution has been to use PNGs whenever practical, and when JPEGs are necessary I simply create those files with the compression settings at the absolute minimum. That is not an ideal solution but it is a step closer to my goal of offering the cleanest images.
