    Hi,

thank you for providing this tool.
I used the updraft plugin. they use 5 files (representing sorted content).
    each one is zipped.

I prefer the simplicity of this tool with its one (two) click design
for manual backup / import / export processes.

I noticed that my site collectively “weighted” 190 mb.
The gzip ed size of the .wpress container file was ~50mb.

Now depending on the content, zipping may not make sense at all.
Thinking of videos and pictures for instance.
Still, it would be nice to store and transfer a 50 mb file rather than a 190 mb file.

True, files need to be unpacked to install them – Extracted out of a container.
But since they are already in a .wpress container file…

    …why not add compression?

As far as I can tell, the plugin already works batch-wise which is great (or just plain necessity ).

    thank you again and
    kind regards

There is compression in WPRESS -> LZ4
Anything else will be put the server under too much stress. There are many hosting providers out there that will simply kill a process once it uses too much cpu and memory. By staying under the “radar” we are able to archive a website of any size. Compression/Decompression also depends on a compression extension being available (https://php.net/manual/en/refs.compression.php) the plug-in replacement like pclzip are way too slow.
There are also other reasons, look at this comparison table: https://help.servmask.com/2017/09/05/comparison-of-wpress-archive-format-with-zip/

I did not know about LZ4 until now.
under the “radar” … makes sense. shared hosting is vulnerable.

I searched the support pages for zip and gzip – and – of course – did not find something related haha. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LZ4_(compression_algorithm)

    thank you

    Hello Yani Iliev,

First I want to thank you for making available the very useful plugin ‘All in 1 WP Migration’. Recently I switched my hosting server from Hostgator to Bluehost and I used the plugin to move my several WP installation websites to the new host. All went well except in 1 website case. The exported file was too large (700 MB) to be imported as the plugin free version limits to 512 MB (I noticed it lately after my new host installation done with basic WP setup). I know it can be done with full version but I’m not ready to buy it now. What options do I have now to solve this issue?

    1. I can view the files inside my .wpress file in https://traktor.servmask.com/#/list?_k=yzmoax , can I delete some data like some plugins to reduce the total file size down to 512 MB then recreate the .wpress file? How to do that?
    2. What else best I can do? pls help me.

    Thanks in advance.

You will need one of our extensions to import the file.

Man please tell me in detail! It sounds like there is a solution to my issue.

What extension I will need and where can I get it?

    Thanks again.

I just checked your products, there are many extensions. But none I found free. Is there any free solution brother?

Yes, you will need to buy an extension – you can pick any from the list on the website.
