The core (free) plugin is impressive with tons of features and a clean interface.
One of my clients has bought the premium version. It’s very robust.I don’t like the front end presentation of events very much so we use All-in-one Event Calendar by Time.ly for the front-end and Event Espresso for the back-end.
The addons are a bit pricey and I think that some of them (eg Attendee mover) should be cheaper or even included in the the core.

I want to clarify that PayPal Express does support credit card payments. According to PayPal, buyers can checkout without a PayPal Account.
