    Hi,

imagine that client wants a special kind of ad on their website – one, that is creating a kind of “gate” around main content. Like on this screenshot: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1385043/gate_ad_example.jpg Note that the sides should scroll with user.

My way of implementing it would be three distinct placements in theme – top, left, right. There I’d put three distinct images/flash banners so together it creates the desired effect.

Now, my question is, how to achieve that I can have two ads of this type on the web, making them rotate on each page load? My first guess would be to use groups, but since one ad is comprised of three ads in fact, I don’t know how to avoid the situation of mixing side and top banners of two different ads.

Not sure if I made myself clear enough, but I would be interested in your solution to this. Thanks in advance!

    Hi andrejm,

thank you for the very clear explanation. This is called a “Wall Paper”.

    Here is an idea:

put the 3 ads that belong to one Wall Paper into one group and display all ads at the same time. Use the “ordered ads” group type for the correct order of ads and use CSS then for the positioning.

You can create multiple Wall Papers like this.

To rotate them, create another ad unit with the “rich media” type and put the shortcode from one group into it. If you put all these helper ads into one group then you can practically rotate groups as well.

Just an idea, but I recently helped to realize a similar scenario successfully for a client.

    Thanks
    Thomas

Thomas, thank you for your suggestions, so far seems plausible in my case, unfortunately I had no time to implement yet – will let you know how it works out.
