    Hi,

Since last friday the Complianz Plugin suddenly blocks the loading script of Google Tag Manager. I have used wizard, added “GTM-OWNCODE” into the options but I’m receiving the following notification

“You have selected options that indicate that your statistics tracking needs a cookie warning. To enable Complianz to handle the statistics, you must delete your current statistics code and configure it in Complianz Privacy Suite.” I translated it from Dutch to English.

Doest this mean I need to buy a premium version to makes this work? I’m not even sure if this is the issue that blocks the Tag Script code from loading on my website because I haven’t changed within the options. It also keeps on blocking the regular TAG scripts I am using if I decide not to use Complianz for Google Tag Manager. Very annoying.

    Hi @timmiieehh,

Thank you for reaching out to us. You don’t need to buy Premium to make this work.

To configure Complianz to work with Tag Manager, you will need to use custom events, to fire scripts based on given consent.

We’ve documented this in our article: https://complianz.io/configuring-categories-for-tag-manager/

Please don’t forget to remove your current Tag Manager script form your webite, as Complianz will add it based on consent.

Good luck, please let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Regards,
    Leon

    Hi Leon,

I never used the “cmplz_event_functional (Analytics)” option. Is this something new? The point is I find it very weird it stopped working since last friday. I haven’t changed anything.

No it is not new, we have implemented that over a year ago. Did you already test if this is working for you?

Hi Leon, Since I didn’t install this before last friday and everything was working fine I’m positive this isn’t the issue. I’m implementing it at the moment, but still I’m confident this isn’t the issue.

    Hi @timmiieehh,

We didn’t change anything to Tag Manager. If you want fire events based on consent, you will need to trigger your tags based on custom events.

If you want to use Tag Manager outside of Complianz, you can’t use consent-based events, because they correspond to Complianz’s integration. If you want to use Tag Manager without consent based consent, you can deselect the categories. You can deselect Tag Manager, and go for “Tag Manager does not fire third-party scripts”. We will unblock Tag Manager and you can use it however you want.

The article Leon posted shows how you can easily configure Tag Manager with Complianz, without the need for another plugin or implementation.

Hope this clears things up, please let me know if you have any questions,

    regards Aert

    Hi Aert,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have used several TAGs in combination with triggers to let Complianz fire our Remarketing Tags. So yes, I am using Complianz for over a half a year this way. I’m fully aware on how to create tag based on the categories since I have one for Google Ads and I have one for Facebook Pixel.

But the problem is Complianz won’t load anything at all since last friday. I am using Tag Assistant in Google Chrome and it doesn’t do anything regardless of which option (Functional / Remarketing) tag I check, Complianz doesn’t fire anything. So my first guess Complianz won’t load the Google Tag Code (GTM-XXXX) at all since we can all agree this is the basics and fundamental start to begin with, right?

If I disable Complianz and load the GTM code directly from the header everything works fine. So that’s why I am convinced it has something to do with Complianz.

Well, I found out changing the option “use categories” from yes to no and opted “all cookies” in the front-end showed the analytics and remarketing tag in Google Tag Assistant.

If I choose ‘only functional cookies’ nothing shows up. So this probably means I need to check the Analytics tag to make sure this one is set properly?

It seems as if the Analytics tag is being placed in the same category as the Remarketing Tag but that doesn’t seem right since we are using Analytics purely for functional purposes. And I’m using the cmplz_event_functional code to fire Analytics.

The Test Mode (default workspace) in Google Tag Manager isn’t working either when Complianz plugin is activated.

I found out that accepting all of the cookies makes Analytics and Tag Manager works. If I only accept the functional cookies, Google Tag Manager and the rest of the tags do not work.

I tried everything but the only way to make sure google tag manager and the analytics tag work is to disable categories and press on “all cookies”. If I use categories, none of the tags show up. So if you have no solution or aren’t to able to help me then I will need to search for another Cookie Opt In plugin.

    Hi @timmiieehh,

I think checking and updating the used tags would solve your problem, indeed.
I can not explain why this would have changed, as we did not update anything related to our GTM integration.

I hope this will fix your problem. Please let us know if it worked out. If it doesn’t, you can share your URL privately here ‘the URL you need help with’, or by mailing to support(at)complianz.io.

    Good luck!

Which tag doesn have an influence that Google Tag Manager works in its entirety?

    Plugin Contributor Leon Wimmenhoeve

    (@leonwimmenhoeve)

@timmiieehh Complianz fires the Tag Manager Events based on consent level.

Category Functional (will be fired on pageload) = cmplz_event_functional
All categories you want to add (e.g. Sttistics) > cmplz_event_0, cmplz_event_1, and so on.
All cookies (custom event) > cmplz_event_all

Depending on your set-up you can use a combination of these events. If you want us to have a look on your site, please share your URL privately here, or e-mail us at support(at)complianz.io

I think it’s better yo send you an email. Because what I meant was Google Tag Manager doesn’t work at all. Not even the “Default Workspace”. Normally it should work when there is a connection between tag manager and the website.
