Hello! I have completely been locked out of my WordPress admin after upgrade.

Running latest version of WP and did automatic upgrade via dashboard.

After upgrade i went to go to another part of the dashboard and got an Apache screen. I tried to go to the URL Login with security slug and it says the page cannot be found with an Error 404. Tried the old /wp-admin/ slug, page cannot be found. With an Apache error 404 Not Found
The server can not find the requested page:
    xxxxxxx.com/wp-admin/ (port 443)

I tried to delete the Better WordPress Security folder to see if it would reset… still locked out. Saved that to local computer and ported it back to see what would happen… nothing!

Can someone please tell me how to get back into my site?

    Thanks!

Well after ZERO help from iThemes after being told to upgrade or that the only ‘support’ was offered through this forum I rolled my site back and deleted this damned plugin. I won’t be using it again after such crappy ‘customer service’. The transition to iThemes and resultant lack of support does not make me want to become a customer. All the best!

You probably still have their plugin’s database tables and options, check your database for itsec tables and options. If they’re still there and you activate this plugin again in the future, it might lock you out again.

Also, check your htaccess and wp-config files for code that doesn’t belong there. People reported various code in those files causing issues.

Hi Viktor, thanks for the heads up on the database entries. I will have a look. There are a few other sites I manage that have this plugin and I want to remove it from each site so there are no issues. I did see the htaccess items on the one site and have removed them, but will look at wp-config. Are there any specific entries I should look for?

I apologize if I came off rude above. I just could not believe the pat, useless answer I got from iThemes. It left a very bad taste in my mouth!

No worries, a lot of people got screwed by these issues.
Other people had issues with plugin adding SSL entries to wp-config, but they did not have SSL. So check for those.
