Hi @webber2012, and thank you for reaching out!
When the Cookiebot plugin is deactivated or deleted, it does not automatically remove its database settings. If you’d like to fully delete any remaining database entries, you can use a dedicated database cleaning plugin, such as Advanced Database Cleaner or Better Search Replace. Please note that this process is entirely the customer’s responsibility.
We retain database information to preserve your custom settings. This way, if you choose to reinstall the plugin, your configurations will be restored without needing to set them up again.
Additionally, once the Cookiebot plugin is deactivated, no Cookiebot scripts or content will load on your site. If you’re still seeing Cookiebot elements, it’s likely due to cached files. To resolve this:
- Verify that no Cookiebot scripts have been manually added elsewhere (e.g., via Google Tag Manager or directly in the site’s code).
- Clear all caches from your website and server to ensure no residual scripts are loading.
