Not sure why as it seems like a straightforward thing, but after installing all it did was remove the protected/private prefix, and changing the settings made no difference whatsoever. WP 6.1.1, Spacious theme 1.9.5.

Hi @aksuska, thanks for letting me know about your issue. I’ll take a look and see if I can replicate the problem you described.

    Hey @aksuska

I just tested and things seem to be working fine using WordPress 6.1.1 and Spacious 1.9.5. Can you provide me with more details (and screenshots) including which PHP version your site is running on and if you have any additional plugins that might affect password-protected or private pages?

For further investigation, I might need temporary WordPress access. Can you clone your site and provide me with staging site credentials to avoid any other inconvenience while debugging?

I’m actually on WP 6.0.3, and the theme is a custom child theme of Spacious, so I assume that is the installed version mentioned. PHP 7.4.33. None of the above tests address my issue. I have several password-protected pages. I want to change the title display from the default, “Protected: Title”. When I install your plugin, the “Protected”prefix disappears from all titles despite not being told not to. If I specify an alternate prefix, no prefix shows for any of these pages. There may be additional functionality that works, but the namesake functionality does not, on my site. I can reinstall it and take screen shots if that helps, but server access is out of the question.

Thank you for following up with more details. I’ve set up a test site to mirror your environment (WP 6.0.1 & PHP 7.4.3), though I’m not experiencing the issues you’ve described (screenshots further below).

If you’re able, could you re-install the plugin then let me know which version you have active, and send screenshots of the customizer and page preview? Also if possible, are you able to share a zip of your custom child theme, I’m hoping to figure out what’s causing issues on your end. And thank you again!

I reinstalled for testing and it did not work until I cleared all temporary files, then it works as advertised. My guess would be something to do with the password-protect cookie…

Thank you for helping me look into the issue. I’ll look into some tweaks and optimizations!

It is now no longer working again, with the same symptoms/problems. Clearing cache no longer helps.

Hey aksuska, sorry for the delay. Are you able to provide any additional info regarding the plugin you think has a conflict? I believe you felt it might be a password-protect cookie plugin. Are you able to share a link to your website as well?

I don’t have any plugins that augment the password protect feature of WP. Last time I was able to make your plugin work was after clearing cache and cookies, but then shortly after it stopped working. Subsequent cleaning of cache/cookies, however, did not seem to get it working again. I don’t know what the formula of actions necessary to flip the right switches.

Hey aksuska, are you able to send a recording of you using the customizer and the plugin (or screenshots as well). I made an update today, though I’m unsure if it will address your issue. Also would it be possible to know the current plugins you have enabled?

I reinstalled and it is currently working as expected, though it has done this in the past and then stopped working for some reason. I’ll let you know if/when it stops.

Glad it’s working and please let me know! I’ll mark this as resolved.
