• I’ve just found a massive issue with this plugin after updating. And after isolation testing in my development environment confirmed it is this plugin.

Running WordPress 5.4.2, PHP version 7.3.17. Gallery-Custom-Links works fine with v1.2.5. However, if I update to v1.2.6 or 1.2.7, then index.php loads indefinitely (multiple browsers: Chrome, Chromium, Firefox), CPU and RAM usage massively increases on the server, and eventually my host will throttle my page due to resource exhaustion.

As suggested in this similar topic I tried DiDom, no difference.

No errors in Javascript console. This appears to be the only relevant PHP error (some identifiable information removed):
[Fri Jun 12 13:07:04.598588 2020] [:warn] [pid 1978:tid 34478199296] [client ***.***.***.***:0] timeout waiting for output from NFGI worker /****/*****/public/index.php, referer: https://pendulum.photography/

Seeing this on other pages as well, not just the home page, and after a wait another PHP error with the referer updated (eg, https://pendulum.photography/photography)

My current full plugin list is as follows:

  • I just upgraded to WordPress 5.4.2. Suddenly I have no way to link from my text to a library image. I tried a plus sign hanging nearby which says it is to start a new block. I don’t want to use blocks but apparently I have no choice. I previously uploaded my new image to the media library (as I have a hundred times before) but when the link button for my text offers to go to MEDIA LIBRARY, my new image is not shown. And I don’t know what to do if it were shown. The whole linking feature is broken and instead of just going away after failing, it leaves crap on my text page which comes up every time I go to that page, even if I update or publish it. My text page now looks like a pig has walked over it, with junky boxes and queries and texts. I have created hundreds of links before now throughout my website but this has defeated me.

In my report on my inability to attach links to the media library to my page texts I forgot to specify details. I am running Windows 10, standard theme, and my website is https://www.zerowasteinstitute.org. The particular page I had a problem with is at https://zerowasteinstitute.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=3726&action=edit. This URL keeps coming up even though I want a simple URL like https://zerowasteinstitute.org/?page_id=30. Is it being thought of as a post instead of a page? That was not what I thought I had created.
