• I just took my first look at the new 2.7 dashboard.

    Awesome.
    Very nicely done.

But for a current client’s sake (and sanity) I’ll need to stay on 2.6.5 because the “import media” feature in 2.7 lacks the complete URL path of the image (http:sitename.com…. uploads/2008/12/filename.jpg).

The reason is: I’m using the wp-tables plug-in to create merchandise listings and he’ll need to see the full path (and not just filename.jpg) in order to paste in the correct URL for each image he uploads. You can’t just “add media” in the wp-tables window on the dashboard. It has to be manually pasted. 2.7 won’t allow him to ever see the full path, where 2.6.5 allowed it during the first upload of the image.

I’m THRILLED that “Upload” is in the “new” button in the top bar, a MAJOR plus for my client, but if the URL can’t be ever seen, then he’ll be stuck.

The URL needs to be easily found when needed. I hope this gets in 2.7.1 because I really want to move him to this version’s dashboard!

  • The only way I’ve found is to: click Add Media, Media Gallery, select the image, Show, File URL, and finally copy the URL that appears. Does anyone knows of a quicker way?

No, but I’m looking for the answer. When I did this, I got ONLY the 150X150 image that my theme uses in posts, and NOT the regular sized photo. ??
