    Hi,

In the plugin admin settings menu, I see a “Complete the update button” at the top of the screen – what does this actually do please?

We usually use a multi-site update plugin and seldom visit the actual site admin unless the client requests it, however following the latest security patch, we logged in to take a look. I don’t want to press anything unless I understand what it does. Does this mean the security patch was not actually fully installed when we first loaded it a number of days ago?

Regarding the security issue, is there anything specific we can check for to make sure sites haven’t been compromised please?

    Thanks for explaining.

The “complete update” button makes sure that any specific updates that were part of the version upgrade are completed. There are several ways that WP plugins can be updated, and depending on how a plugin was updated, certain action hooks may or may not have been triggered. So that button makes sure that any specific upgrades for your particular version were completed.

Regarding the security issue, you can review the data contained in your wp_usermeta table for the meta key “wpmem_reg_ip”. If they all contain only valid IPv4 and IPv6 data, then you’re fine.
