    Hi Tobias-

Is tablepress compatible with Media File Renamer? I am using this to boost SEO for images. I seem to get strange results when I hover over an image that is part of a Tablepress table. Thanks -Les

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I’m not familiar with that plugin and unfortunately don’t have the resources to test all available plugins for compatibility.

Now, in this case, it sounds as if that plugin is maybe not properly taking into account that TablePress uses the JSON format to store its data, which has an influence on how the HTML code needs to be formatted when replacing it.

What “strange results” are you seeing? Can you please post a link to the page with the table where this problem happens, so that I can take a direct look? Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias-

If you go to page https://pembrokeinstruments.com/swir-cameras/#swir-camera-selection-table and hover over any of the camera images in the table, the browser should return the title for that image. This is how it’s supposed to work using the All-In-One-SEO plugin. But if you go to https://pembrokeinstruments.com/ccd-camera/ and hover over any of the images in the table, it comes back with “SenS SWIR Camera” which is the wrong title for these images. If you hover over images outside the table on this page, the correct title is returned. Same thing for page https://pembrokeinstruments.com/swir-cameras/swir-hyperspectral-imaging/, the wrong title comes up. So the question is why it works for one of the tablepress table images but not for the other two tables?

    Hi,

from what I can see, there’s the HTML code

    <img title="SenS SWIR camera" ...

in all these table cells with images. That’s why this title is shown.

Is this code already part of the table cells on the “Edit” screen? Or what’s the title there?

One more thing: In pretty much all cells of the “Data Sheet Link” column, the HTML code for the link is wrong! It’s missing the closing </a> tag and you should definitely add that to not run into weird link effects (like right now, where clicking anywhere in a row will open a data sheet (but maybe the wrong one)).

    Tobias

    Hi Tobias-

This is from one of the image links on the page ?https://pembrokeinstruments.com/ccd-camera/

    <a href=" https://pembrokeinstruments.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/else-i-ccd-camera.png"><img src=" https://pembrokeinstruments.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/else-i-ccd-camera.png" alt="ELSESI " width="100" height="100" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-78999" /></a>

Can I add code to the above to force a title name and what would that be?

    (@tobiasbg)

    Hi,

yes, you can add title="Your title" to the <a ... or the <img ... HTML tag. The image already has an alt tag though, so normally that would be displayed when the image is hovered.

    Tobias

    Hi Tobias-

I have changed the tablepress cell to:

    <a href=” https://pembrokeinstruments.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/else-i-ccd-camera.png”><img src=” https://pembrokeinstruments.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/else-i-ccd-camera.png&#8221; title=”CCD Camera” alt=”ELSE CCD Camera” width=”100″ height=”100″ class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-78999″ /></a>

But the HTML code when I inspect still uses “SenS SWIR Camera” for the title and not “CCD Camera”. This only happens for images in the table. So I’m still looking for a way to force the title I want.

    Hi,

if you are still getting different titles, something else on the site is interfering here and must be changing them. TablePress does not alter your table content.

Now, to rule out any caching issues, please add the cache_table_output=false parameter to the Shortcodes of the affected tables, like

    [table id=21 cache_table_output=false /]

    Hi Tobias-

The code to free the cache did not change anything.

What’s odd is the table on ?https://pembrokeinstruments.com/swir-cameras/#swir-camera-selection-table is OK with respect to returning the correct image title on hover but the tables on ? https://pembrokeinstruments.com/ccd-camera/? and ?https://pembrokeinstruments.com/swir-cameras/swir-hyperspectral-imaging/ return wrong image title.

Can you see anything different on these two tables from the one that works?

    Hi,

no, sorry, I can’t see anything that could be causing this. But I also don’t know the details on how these titles are added.

This is definitely now done by TablePress, so I can only suggest that you contact the Media File Renamer support team (if that plugin adds those titles).

    Regards,
    Tobias
