Compatibility with ‘Insert Page’ plugin

  • Im looking for a way to create a shortcode that can be used in conjunction with the ‘Insert Page’ plugin. Im hope to be able to use the $$title$$ shortcode on one page and then have that page inserted into another page but the shortcode to display the title of the main page not the inserted one? If that makes sense

    Page with Shortcode (Page 1) > New Page with Page 1 inserted using ‘Insert Page’ (Page 2) > When viewing Page 2 the shortcode on Page 1 displays the title of Page 2.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for using Shortcoder plugin. The parameters are designed to work on the “current context” i.e the current post. That is how normally the shortcodes used.

    In your case, the entire “text” of page 1 is inserted into “page 2”. So the effective context is “page 2”. Hence the title of page 2 is seen.

    I do understand that you expect page 1, but the shortcode does not know where it is inserted it can be anywhere, in widgets, menu, post, page etc.. It just knows the current context i.e page 2.

    I would suggest follow a different approach to your problem or check with “insert page” authors if they have shortcode to pick title of different post.

    Thanks so much for the reply, I’ll seek an alternative method.

    side note: is there a way for the short code builder to use WPBakery for designing short codes?
