Compatibility with FlyWP
-
Hello. I’m test-driving the FlyWP hosting server management platform from WeDevs, which is quite different from other platforms such as RunCloud, Serverpilot, Serveravatar, Cloudways, etc, in that is places websites inside Docker containers running Nginx and PHP.
I’ve been using Duplicator to move websites around for quite a while always flawlessly, but this time I had problems with FlyWP. I know this isn’t a problem with the Duplicator plugin, but I have contacted FlyWP’s support and they simply evaded my question and asked me to use UpDraft Backup instead.
The problem is that the migration itself works just as expected but after finishing, the site’s home page and /wp-admin are inacessible, they get stuck in a 301 redirect loop. I checked this and the redirect is redirecting to itself, eg., https://mysite.com/wp-admin keeps redirecting to https://mysite.com/wp-admin
What is weird though, is that any other page on the site ends up working just fine, eg., https://mysite.com/contact or https://mysite.com/about-us.
I did test migrations using the temporary/development domain and a custom domain, and both presented the same problem. I also did tests with the standalone installer and also by uploading the backup file to the existing fresh website so the contents can be replaced, and both also had this problem.
The only thing I saw that is different on FlyWP’s platform that I believe could cause an issue is the location of the wp-config.php file, which in their platform is not stored under the main WordPress directory but in a top level directory. Updraft was able to migrate the site just fine, and FlyWP’s documentation mentions about the location of wp-config.php and asks to manually move your settings there in case you have custom definitions set up.
I am aware this is FlyWP’s responsibility but could you take a look, please?
Thanks in advance.
