Whenever I install WPSC and configure it all, it works amazing, for about 1 day…

That’s when the problems start to occur. In the past, I wasn’t using the debug function so I had no idea what was happening when the 500 errors and crashing started to happen.

This time, everything crashed suddenly when I was in my admin panel optimizing the database by deleting revisions, and other things like that.

That’s when I checked the debug log from my FTP and saw things about “Blank buffer. No Closing HTML. Check other plugins for ob_start.” etc.

Well, it wasn’t until then that I checked and realized the Autoptimize plugin uses an ob_start function in it.

Yet…and as far as I know, these two plugins are meant to be fully compatible.

Well, isn’t that just dandy. So are they compatible or not?

Also, I have a qualm with the debug function. It tells you to check for ob_start in other plugins but not what to do if you find them or if you can do anything at all besides just not using plugins that call an ob_start.

There is only 1 other one besides Autoptimize that uses it and it’s solely organizing the Media Library in the admin.

I’m just confused as to what to do here, especially since it would be a shame to throw away my 100/100 pagespeed rating, and my 97/94 Gtmetrix ratings and my 100 score with a 1.5s load Pingdom rating.

All that optimizing and the site just crashes every other day at which point I have to reconfigure everything and try again hoping I can pinpoint an error when it happens and maybe solve all this for once.

  • Hi tuccimane;
I’m AO’s developer and use WPSC myself, so yeah, they’re compatible ??

    hope this clarifies,

    Frank,

I guarantee this is something on my end, but it’s just so hard to debug.

Thank you for the clarification. Between the two plugins, when my site isn’t busting, I am getting amazing page speeds and everything is wonderfully optimized.

I don’t want to find a different way to cache and optimize as I have found that using these two plugins with WPSC not compressing and activating WP Performance Score Booster as well, creates an incredibly fast site.

I’m not sure if anyone else cares, or you or the dev for WPSC cares (Donn someone right?), but I have went through a world of trouble figuring out how to configure this all for a site with WP installed into a subdirectory and properly permalinked to the root.

That and all the little kinks I have worked out between these three plugins working in union – between it all I could write a pretty comprehensive guide on what does what and what breaks what and what code changes need to be made because of dev errors (the max-age thing was really effing up my expiries and preloading – and the ob_start thing was yet another little thing that had to be worked out by adding bits of code or changing this and that).

    Anyway.

Thank you again. Is what I really was saying.

If I have any questions it’s really nice to know you and other devs are so timely with your responses.
