• I was using an older version of ComicPress that worked perfectly with the SNAP (Social Network Auto Poster) plugin. Any time I added a comic, it would automatically post to Tumblr, Twitter, and StumbleUpon.

I just upgrade to the latest versions of ComicPress and ComicEasel and tried to post a comic. That went okay on the site itself, but it did not auto-post to the other sites.

Would you know of any way to ensure that this auto-poster (or others) could work with ComicEasel?

Also having some trouble getting my custom navigation icons back, but that’s a whole different issue.

Thanks for an awesome WordPress utility!

Jetpack now works with custom post types for auto posting.

However, SNAP you can ask them to add support for the ‘comic’ post type and it’s probably just 1 line that needs to be modified.

But you’ll have to ask them about it.

Ahh that’s interesting. I didn’t get around to installing most of the “recommended plugins” because it didn’t say what they were. I just tried Jetpack and it looks pretty neat!

It doesn’t appear to post the actual comic to Tumblr, just the text and a link to the comic page, but maybe I missed a setting somewhere? I like how it was a pretty streamlined process.

    Thanks!

The Jetpack plugin says it will post images to Tumblr if the post type is set to “image” – but I can’t see where to set that with Comic Easel.

Is that an available option? I can see a title to change the “Comic Post Type” in the Comics—Config area, but it’s labeled “Custom Post Type slug name?” which I’m not sure is what Jetpack is asking for.

And, sorry, one more quick question. I’m trying to use custom navigation and in the oooold Comic Press I was able to display it beneath the comic, but above the text that went along with the comic. I don’t see that location available in the widgets for it. Basically I want to replace the default navigation with my custom navigation. I know where to turn off the default navigation, but do not know how to move the widget-custom-navigation to where the default was displayed.

I’m over at warehousecomic.com by the way in case you wanted to visit us ??

You cannot set the ‘comic’ post type to ‘image’ because it is not an image, it’s a comic.

You should ask for a feature request to the jetpack people to support custom post types to auto-post to tumblr if a featured image is set on the post and use that featured image as the tumblr image.

Comics -> Config -> [x] enable comic sidebars

Ahh, very interesting. I will try to get in touch with them. Thanks again Frumph.

    Howdy,

Carl contacted us. There’s a bit of confusion between post type and post format, but nevertheless, it is a great feature request.

We tweaked our Tumblr publicize a few days ago to included embedded videos, but we’re still working on it. (We recently finished Facebook and Twitter media handling enhancements, so time for Tumblr love).

Thanks again for the suggestion. Cheers!
