Compatibility issue with MySQL 5.7

  • I got the error with MySQL 5.7 – https://cloudup.com/cz3p_D6zEdc

    workaround: adding $this->set_sql_mode(); after the setting charset in db_connect() fixes the problem, yet I’m not sure this is the proper solution.

    I saw Gary’s comments about the problem; maybe I should ping him ?? cc/ @pento

    Btw, why is the HyperDB no longer exists on Github ??

    The reason I created a fork of HyperDB was out of a need for PHP7, MySQL 5.7, and UTF-8 support. LudicrousDB provides that, and with a small group of invested contributors who maintain it.

    Together, with my old colleagues at Automattic, we stay in touch with each other as updates to WPDB happen. They removed HyperDB from GitHub because the team responsible for maintaining it prefers to do so here on www.remarpro.com. It was only on GitHub for a specific collaboration effort, which has now ended.
