IP2Location Country Blocker is a great plugin for what it does. Problem is, it doesn’t work with cache plugins. Apparently none of the cache plugins see the opportunity to partner on developing compatibility and likely get exposure to their customer base. Is that something you folks might want to check into? Sure would be nice not to have to compromise site security by blocking countries we have no desire to view our pages compared to having faster loading websites. At this point in time, why can’t we have both?

    Hello @kernvy

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to help!
The problem is related to the Page Cache. What happens is that the page is cached once visited, and if the page is visited as blocked it will be cached as such (Main Page or any other page), and if it’s visited by the allowed user (Country that is not blocked) it will be cached normally, and therefore the Location blocker will not have any effect.

The problem is how those plugin work and Page Cache in this case is the sole problem.

While other features will work, Page Caching should be disabled in cases like this.
I’ll bring the idea to the team, however, at this point, you should consider alternatives like Cloudflare for blocking, or keep the Page Cache disabled.

    Thanks!

Is it possible to force-load the IP blocker before the page cache is loaded? Seems like that should take priority anyway since I don’t want the page cache to even function if the IP isn’t a country or language we do business with. The website itself is initially identified by the IP for the domain, right – not an individual page? I don’t understand why potential security issues seem to take a backseat to functionality. I find it hard to believe it can’t be programmed to function differently. Apparently no company wants to differentiate enough to take the lead on this.
