Compared to HTTP Basic Auth
-
BruteProtect seems really terrific, but I’m not sure what advantage it provides compared to password protecting wp-login.php through .htaccess, which is what I’ve been doing for quite some time.
The main thing I’m interested in is reducing the resources that all those brute force attempts aware costing, and for that the basic auth approach is quite efficient. Can BruteProtect do the same and maybe more, or does it stand in a disadvantage because it still runs php and/or WordPress for each connection?
