• Greetings!

I am having an odd rendering problem with IE. When you visit the comments page for a post on my site, it bumps the sidebar down to below the comments preview. All other pages on the site display fine with IE, except for the comments page. Also, the comments pages display perfectly with FireFox.

    Here is the main site:
    https://g0nk.com
As you can see, I have the side bar on the right as normal. You can click on Archives, or anything under the “misc.” group and see that the sidebar is displayed correctly as well.

Here is a link to a comments page:
    https://g0nk.com/?p=14#comments
Here you can see how it’s messed up..

I’ve been rummaging thru the code for about 2 days now and can’t for the life of me figure out why it’s doing this. If anyone can take a look and let me know if they have any ideas, I would be gretly appreciative. Also, view everything in FireFox to see how it displays fine in that browser.

    Thanks!
    g0nk

update: I thought possibly if i upgraded to WP 1.5.1.2 it would fix this, but i’m still having problems… is there any other information I need to post to help with this?

Upgrading was a good idea, but not a fix. The Theme did not change because nothing was done to upgrade IT. ??

You have some validation errors including a lot div, which might have something to do with it. Fix those, but in reality, make your comment boxes narrower and it might solve itself.

Different browsers define margins and padding differently, and it looks like it is just being pushed down because the comments form inputs are too wide. Narrow them and if the sidebar pops back into place, you’ll have the problem solved. If not, and you’ve cleaned up the errors, then let us know.

It will be the text input box being too wide. Reset the width in the CSS.

Lorelle: i fixed the errors.. was something else, I added another button and fergot to add a closing tag. whoops..

I ended up fixing it.. it was a push/pull margin fight between 2 elements in the comments style sheets.. i think the commentarea was pushing 20px to the right, and the live preview area was pushing -13px to the left.. dunno really how that got like that.. but it’s fixed now.. ??
