• Can somone please explain why in the world the “default” theme’s comments page bans the author when they try to post while logged in?

This is silly, and i solved the problem by simply cutting that code out of the theme’s comments.php

    But what’s it doing there?
    What’s it supposed to do?
    And why doesn’t it work?

  • I don’t think the author is banned as much as the author is treated like everyone else. You get moderated, if you have moderation turned on, until you are approved.

There is a plugin that will automatically approve admin/moderator’s comments https://www.coffee2code.com/wp-plugins/

Remember, WordPress is very powerful, but it can’t always read your mind.

    Actually,

I’ve never used the standard installation without my first comment, while logged in, taking ages to process, and then returning with the result “You have been banned from posting comments on this side. score=5”

It’s not moderation, it’s some spam protection that’s not working correctly in the “default” theme.

Only works as it should when I cut out the code which checks to see if you’re logged in or not from the comments.php

Many people have posted about this.
