Comments not working at all – both post and view

I’m working on getting comments to display properly, and no matter what I do, it won’t work – it appears that the $comments array is empty, even though comments_number() returns a positive comment count. I’m unsure of where this query is failing and what is going wrong.

Also, when posting comments to wp-comments-post.php, the page is redirected to wp-comments-post.php and does not redirect back to the page from which the POST request came from. I’m using WordPress 2.0.3. I can post any code if people need to see it.
