• Comments in Disqus had been working brilliantly on our site for months, then suddenly they stopped syncing. Disqus comments continue to display, but our wordpress theme displays comment counts in several places, and for recent posts it now says 0 no matter how many comments there are. See the home page for example (it’s a political blog — please don’t take offense, I’m just trying to debug it):

    I’ve gone through the steps in this sync troubleshooting page with no success:

    The site is hosted on WPEngine, and tech support there said they do have a mechanism that kills processes that run for more than 120 seconds, and we thought perhaps that was the problem. But tech support disabled that kill mechanism while we troubleshoot, and still syncing doesn’t work. It does seem to get farther, in that the last Disqus post id is now higher than it was before, but the sync process still does not complete.

    The error log for the site says this:

    This is a very large site, with 11,470 posts and 900,920 Comments. So sync will certainly take a long time. But it was syncing correctly until September 15.

    Has anyone seen something like this? What might be causing the error and making the sync process hang?

  • I have the exact same problem, since september 28… my site is quite large too (about 30k comments), and manually syncing didn’t work (and besides, I need it to work automatically like before).

    Do you know where I can get a log similar to yours?

    The script that generated the log is in the Disqus plugin — this script within that plugin’s files:
    /scripts/import-comments.php

    I wasn’t able to run the script myself, due to security settings in my hosting I think. But my hosting tech support ran it for me. Your hosting might let you run it, or you might need support’s help.

    Please let me know what you find when you run it. Maybe it’s a related thing. I wonder if there’s some limit at Disqus that we’re hitting.

    Hi ccloskey, were you able to resolve this? I’m having the same problem with my high traffic blog after installing wptouch pro. Now my comments are 0 in my dashboard.

    Floridian12, no, still no solution.

    If you remove wp touch, does the problem fix itself?
