Comments not fully syncing to WP database
-
I have a Disqus site with 31 comments (which I counted manually because the information didn’t seem to be available anywhere) from a Blogger blog. I did a URL mapping and the comments all appear nicely in my new WP blog now. When I went to the Dashboard, however, there were no comments. I went to the Disqus plugin settings, disabled automatic import and clicked the button “Sync Comments”. I got a success message: “Your comments have been downloaded from Disqus and saved in your local database.”
I went to the Dashboard and there were 11 items.
I’ve tried checking the “Remove all imported Disqus comments before syncing” box, disabling all plugins, deleting all comments from the database (with a plugin), trying again, nothing helps. And weirdly enough I always seem to get these 11 comments imported, but not the rest.
Anybody has any idea of what else I could try?
More details:
I had a Blogger blog with 34 comments (yes, not 31, I don’t know what’s up with that, I didn’t have patience to figure out what is missing in Disqus). I used Disqus and didn’t have problems. I migrated the blog to WordPress, which copied the posts and comments from the Blogger database to WordPress. I decided to use Disqus with WordPress too. I installed and it prompted me to create a site to associate to this WP blog, which I did. Then I imported the comments from the WP database, but the comments lacked emails (I think Blogger doesn’t store that?) so I checked the Disqus admin and realized my blogger comments were still there listed for the blogger site. So I decided to migrate that to my WP blog. I did the URL mapping and everything appeared nicely in the WP posts (with emails, avatars, etc). But then I went to the Dashboard and you know the rest of the story.
PS: I use some cheap and lame GoDaddy hosting, which limits what I can do to try to solve this problem.
