• After update to WP 5.5 comments at the end of posts are not longer displayed. They exist on the database, in the WP administrator environment and they are even counted correctly and the correct number of comments (see “4 Antworten” at the end of the cited post https://www.nz2go.de/neuseeland-in-zeiten-des-coronavirus/ mean 4 Comments) is displayed as the header for the comments section at the end of posts – but then the comments are not listed underneath.

Advice would be appreciated … Thank you!

  • I am also having this issue. Comments display and function perfectly on mobile (using wptouch) but not on desktop using the twentyten theme. Site: https://www.seattlebikeblog.com/ I am too amateur to know how to even know where to begin to fix this. I’m using a child theme based on twentyten v 2.9. I am going to start the work of updating my theme to 3.1 (most recent) and will report back. But I’m not hopeful since my version isn’t that old…

Aha! Updating to twentyten v3.1 did fix my issue. I’m sorry I doubted the team.

I have exactly this problem, but unfortunately using twentyten 3.1 breaks my posts pages by failing to display a banner image. So I’ve been using twentyten 3.0 – the very old version.
Plus I can’t see an easy way to downgrade WordPress 5.5 as the Dashboard has more or less disappeared.
Obviously there is some difference in the releases of twentyten but might take a while to trawl through to spot them.
Please don’t suggest using a different Theme, it is actually a child theme of another we use on several sites with great success.

Perhaps someone else can suggest an easier method, but I typically download my child theme’s files and the latest version of twentyten, then use a version compare program (notepad++ on windows does it well, though there are many others) to see what has changed and add the updated code to my child theme files while leaving my personal changes intact. It’s a bit tedious, but I don’t know of another way to update everything except what I purposefully changed.

I also using twentyten theme and got the problem after upgrade to WP 5.5, all previous comments are not showing and also new coming comments.
Is there any more interesting solution rather than downgrade to 3.0 or 3.1 ?

FYI, problem solved only by update Twentyten theme to 3.2 version.

I lost my website designer during the shutdown and now am having this same problem for the past 6 months after updating my site. I’ve checked a lot of suggestions yet cannot find a fix.

    Please what is twentyten theme?

I know I have basic magazine, hosted at GoDaddy – and have stayed away from anything ‘under the hood’ and have kept to writing articles only. However, as a local news & views site, we are losing credibility when our comments are not visible –

Please, does anyone have a suggestion I might try that won’t break my website?

Thank you in advance for any direction offered.
