• I tried to upgrade recently but my version of mysql was too old. after much debate with host i was told that i could not get a later version of mysql for many months.

so i rolled back the code and everything looked fine and i had 3000 comments before i turned askimet back on and rechecked for spam.

today (a week later) I looked at my site a and ALL of my comments are missing!! I have done a simple test and the site can save one comment.

    any ideas?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    – repaired/checked your database?

good questions, thanks for the reply.

I have already done the following:

deactivated all pluggins and that didn’t fix it.

    deleted all inactive pluggins

these didn’t work so i have turned all pluggins back on

from your suggestions i have switched themes to classic and that didn’t help so i put it back on default.

for the last suggestion ‘- repaired/checked your database?’ how shoudl i go about this?

    thanks

You should be able to access your database using something like phpMyadmin. If you’re not sure what (if any) database management tools you have access to, ask your host for assistance.

Do you have any recent database backups?
