Comments link not on homepage

open your theme’s index.php and add this
<?php comments_template(); ?>
somewhere after
<?php the_content('<strong>Read more &raquo;</strong>');
back up file 1st

It’s not working for some reason. I placed it directly after <?php the_content(‘Read more »‘);
