• WordPress 4.4 running Pinboard theme.

Since the upgrade, comments are not appearing for some visitors on some pages. Visitors have to comment to force comments to show. The problem is random, appearing on some pages on some days not others, and for some visitors on some days not others. We are switching off one plugin at a time to see if there’s a conflict, but it’s a slow process because we depend on commenters to give feedback since it’s not a glitch I cannot replicate on demand. (I actually haven’t witnessed it, but we have a lot of visitors who have reported the problem repeatedly.)

I just wondered if anyone else is having this problem since the upgrade.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I am slowly deactivating plugins to see if any are causing the problem. Deactivating them all at once and switching off the theme would cause much chaos on what is a very busy blog. I am not yet ready to rip that plaster off yet, although it may be the most sensible solution. But, thanks to you, I have a useful list of Things to Try. Thank you for your help.
