• My comments, which have worked before, are suddenly having issues. A friend of mine informed me she that got an error – wanted her to open your php comment script. When I tried to test my comments, after I hit “submit”, after an insanely long period of time, I was greeted with a blank screen, but no comment. I’ve also not gotten a single comment awaiting moderation. The only thing I can think of is that I added a few words to my list of words to not accept comments, for, but these were in no way common words, mostly medication words, etc. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • Check your server logs. Most likely something cause php to time out.

This problem has been going on for over a week. Do you think that could still be it? Also, what exactly should I be checking for? Thanks.

Yes if something has been changed no matter how much time passes it won’t fix itself.

You’ll be looking for anything like php error or php timeout or php memory exhausted, pretty much anything that says php.

I’m having a similar issue. IS there something I can do to fix it?

Did you follow the steps I had given theunlib?

I know this sounds dumb, but where/what is a server log?

Now, when you try to submit a comment, you’re just greeted by a blank page.

the log file(s) contain entries for what the webserver received from the browers and what the webserver did with the request (including any unexpected errors that don’t get written to the browser)

Their location can be tricky to track down. It depends where your hosting service puts them. Some control panels have an option to download the logs. Other wise, you might ask your hosts support folks or read their faq/docs or forums.

My server log was disabled. I enabled it. I’m assuming that if I try to leave a comment a few times, the error log will display…something. What exactly am I looking for and how do if fix it if I find it?
