• in the wordpress options you can select to get emailed whenever someone comments… how do you set this up to work? people comment on my site and i get no email (and in fact, i haven’t setup any email accounts for wordpress… so how can i use this… feature?)

also, i know you can “stay logged in” (i.e. login, view site, and login again and you dont have to enter username/password) but is there anyway for users to log in, and be able to post comments without having to fill in their name and email address again (since they’re already a user and logged in?)

great service… check out my new blog (i ended up buying hosting for $25 for the year and a domain name)

The option to activate notification is in Options/Discussions. Your server needs to provide a way to send email though. Most do, but your $25/yr price tag makes me suspect that yours doesn’t.

surprisingly enough, $25 a year bought me a ton of options… i can go through them or you could see for yourself… https://www.livehost.net

what needs to be done to set that up? or should it automatically work?

It should be done automatically, or your host needs to configure it in either PHP or Apache.

on my server i have these options under email:
    Manage Accounts
    WebMail
    Email Domain Forwarding
    Default Address
    Auto Responders
    E-mail Filtering
    Forwarders
    Mailing Lists
    Modify MX Entry
    Trace an Email Address
    Spam Assassin

is there anywhere in any of these that i could go to set this up?

    …or…

can you provide a little more detail so if i email my tech support i’ll have more info to go on?

how does wordpress send mail without having an assigned email address/password? I can set one up for it easy enough, but is there a default name/password in a file somewhere.

Also, which php file handles this? i’d like to look more into it to customize it, if i ever get it working

Greetings, my name is Thomas Tremain, the lead engineer for Matt’s new web host, https://www.LiveHost.net

Sorry for butting in, but we always try to locate sources of new links for https://www.LiveHost.net, and found this thread.

Anyway, I thought I’d like to offer any assistance in this project, just let me know if there is anything I (we) can do to help.

I can also see your hesitance in a $25 a year web hosting package. Let me try to put your mind at ease. The package Matt has is a starter package, with a small amount of bandwidth. This is fine for some sites, but many end up upgrading later as their sites build traffic.

It’s great for smaller sites, or sites in development, but add options for growth too. Don’t get me wrong, we have many clients running production business websites on this very same package.

https://www.LiveHost.net has been ranked, at HostSearch.com as the Top Rated Host, of all time, based on client satisfaction and reviews. https://likeit.net?toprated_wordpress

What kind of email options do you require? All our servers support SMTP, are sendmail compatible, and PHP’s mail() function is also enabled.

Please let me know if there is anything I can assist with in this project.

Another note, you may need to contact me directly, because I don’t see a way to subscribe to this thread, or get automaticly notified if someone posts more info.

The best way to reach us (since I don’t want to post an email address in an open thread) is by visiting https://LiveHost.net/contactus.html

it’s actually all working now… dont know what the deal with that was…

… i’d still be interested in finding out about possible email customization

Glad to hear it Matt! The rest soulds like it’s wordpress specific, which isn’t our forte’. These guys will be best suited for helping you there.

Let me know if I can help in any way… You know where to find us!

    …and again, Welcome Aboard!
