• I installed WP yesterday but for a site I had already built, so I’m not using a theme. I just want to be able to pull posts to the site and include commenting, but I can’t find a way to display the comment link or comment box. It looks like commenting isn’t even an option…

My site is at https://www.iownthepackers.com/indextest.php and you’ll see what I’m talking about. If you look at my default theme version https://www.iownthepackers.com/blog you’ll see that the link appears, but clicking on it just takes you directly to my main site and doesn’t let you add a comment or view comments. How do I fix this? Does it have to do with the fact that I’m not using a theme and therefore not using the single.php doc? I hope there’s an easy fix here, I just want to make commenting work.

My code is here – https://pastebin.com/tH8e1Vjh

    Thank you

  • I would think the reason its not working as expected is that your trying to alter/confuse the default wordpress index.php with your custom one. im assuming your site and wordpress are sitting in the same directory, if not that could be the problem too?

it would be easier if you built the entire site in wordpress as it is a robust cms instead of using html files, unless you are doing it this way for a specific reason, just my 2cents
