Comments don't appear

Hi

I have read several threads on this subject and followed leads, but no effect. Comments arrive at my email address and are readable to be as administrator, but do not show up under the post they relate to.
Not sure of the WP version, but signed up within the last 2 – 3 weeks, so it will be recent.

I am using WordPress direct, IE not externally hosted.
Under Post, I have checked ‘Allow comments’ and ‘Allow pings’.

Under Discussion settings I have checked ‘allow people to post comments on new articles’, but have left unchecked ‘Administrator must approve the comment’ and ‘Comment author must have a previously approved comment’
