• Hello. I am new to WordPress and on a steep learning curve ??

I’m using WP 2.0.2 and a theme called Relaxation 3 column. It’s working out okay in general but one of the blog’s other authors reported a strage display problem when the site is viewed in Internet Explorer. I don’t have Explorer here so I’ll copy what she wrote:

“I didn’t mention this earlier, because it still works, the bottom of the comments page looks all awry. The last comment is split in two with the last two lines ending up in the left colum, while the first few are in the right. the ‘leave a reply’ section has also migrated left– although this might be intentional it still looks awry, so I don’t think it is entirely”

I’m fairly certain I haven’t changed anything in the Index file except to add an ‘author link’ template tag. I haven’t touched the Comments file at all.

Here is a link to a post on the blog so you can see the comments display.

I’d be really grateful if someone could suggest a possible solution.

  • Firefox and IE often display web pages in a slightly different manner as they both have slight variations from the web standards.

It is very difficult to pinpoint the cause of your problem. I have had a look at the page in the W3C validator, https://validator.w3.org/ and it reveals 37 errors.

Suggest that you / your web designer tackle these first and then it will be considerably easier to see why the page is not displaying as you would wish in IE.

it was a tag accidentally left open. Thanks for the advice.
