I’m running Suffusion but I have the same issue with 2012.

On my home page there isn’t a comment box, on the rest of my pages there is a comment box. I am using the default. Each page is set to default.

How do I remove the comment box?

    Thanks

  • To disable comments on future Pages/Posts, uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion. Then edit each published Page or Post and uncheck “Allow comments” in each case. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

I found the pages/posts page/pane and everything was unchecked. I looked at a page in pages > edit and couldn’t find a way to block comments.

I did find the Screen options pane and unchecked all, bit the problem persists.

Click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”. Then uncheck “Allow comments” on each published Page or Post..

semi — my WP crashed due to not saving he DB when I backed up. So I’m staarting fresh. This is a totally new install with a new DB.

I’m have trouble with the same issue above but this install does not shoe Allow “Comments” or “Discussion” in the screen options.

    Thanks

You’re looking in the wrong place. You need to look in Settings -> Discussion for the global settings and in Edit Post/Edit Page for the screen Options.

Got it. Is there another plugin as good as Suffusion that I could look at?

I would like to compare features.

Thanks for the help and patience.

I assume you mean “theme”? Plugins add extra functionality to your site. Themes control how it looks. I’m not trying to be picky but you do need to get the “jargon” right or some of your posts could be completely misunderstood. ??

Suffusion is an extremely customisable theme and there are few themes to beat it when it comes down to being able to customise your site without knowing any coding at all. But at the end of the day, it really comes down to “what are you looking for in a theme”. There are over 1,500 other free themes that you could look at but you might want to use the tag filter to narrow the choice down a little.

II meant theme, I was thinking plugin possibly because I’m nearing brain freeze putting all the WP knowledge to work.

    I’ll check them out.

    Thanks

One other thing esmi — which files from my old site can I ftp to my new site. Isn’t wp-content one of them?

    Thanks again.
