Comments disappear with 3.9 update

  • I updated my site to WordPress 3.9 and all the comments on the site appear to have disappeared. The number of comments on each post are listed with each post on the static main page but are not visible when you click on the post. I am also unable to post comments. Once I click submit, it redirects to the 401 page. I use the 2014 theme.

    I’ve tried de-activating and re-activating the plugins and re-installed 3.9. It didn’t solve the problem.

    Is anyone else having this problem? Any advice? Thanks.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the 2013 theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Any update or solution on this subject?
    I have the same problem here. I’m using the theme Dynamix and after updating to Wodrpress 3.9 all comments on the pages disappeared.
    I’m glad, they are still in the admin as normal…
