"Comments Closed" when post was published less than a day ago?!

I’m having the same problem. I have the appropriate settings under discussion settings. It says “(These settings may be overridden for individual articles.)”, but i’m not seeing where that occurs.

@george W. Drake – I figured out the issue for my comments being closed. On each post it asks wether the admin would allow comments and trackbacks on that post…if unchecked simply check and see if that works.
