When I add an author to a post with co-authors, that second author cannot edit or delete the comments in wordpress admin.

    Hi @zomblesallegoy

    Thanks for using PublishPress Authors.

In this case, you will need PublishPress Capabilities, then add manage_comments on that role:

Let me know if the issue persists.

That setting in capabilities is turned on. The issue still persists.

@zomblesallegoy Does first author and 2nd author have the same role?

They do not, First author is admin, second editor.

Also the post for which the reactions are is a custom post type. Is that a problem?

@zomblesallegoy Just making sure we are talking the same, you are referring on editing the comment here right?

    Thread Starter zomblesallegoy

    (@zomblesallegoy)

    That is correct

First example is a comment where the person has been added as secondary editor, second comment is one where they are the primary editor.

I just test this in fresh WordPress installation and I can edit the comment even though I’m as a second author: https://www.loom.com/share/aabd7d90500e4570871fa996df0dc045

Can you please check if I missed something in checking this issue?

Alternatively, you could try to give 4 capabilities mentioned in this doc: https://publishpress.com/blog/capabilities/wordpress-authors-comments-posts/

    Thanks,

Yes it works if I turn on edit_others, but the problem is that I don’t want them to edit the posts that they aren’t the owners off, but if I turn that capability off it doesn’t work anymore. While they should still be able to manage the comments of the things they are second author of.

It seems that it it only listens to the original wordpress author box to see who can maintain comments on a post. When I changed wordpress box to red (author) they could maintain, but when I switch it to green (admin), Red can’t edit.

@zomblesallegoy We are limited here on the WordPress forums with how much we can debug specific sites.

A close read of this guide may help you: https://publishpress.com/blog/capabilities/wordpress-authors-comments-posts/

@zomblesallegoy This is something that we could not replicate in our testing.

We spin up new WordPress installation and only PublishPress Authors installed, our second author still able to edit comments. We might need to investigate this further.

We’d be glad to assist you further if granted access to your site.

Unfortunately I am not a pro user. Thanks for your time though.

@zomblesallegoy If you are not a pro user, we will need additional information on how to replicate this in a fresh WordPress installation. Can you replicate this issue other than on your site?

    Thanks,
