Although comments are allowed in my WP admin setting, somehow Jetpack app shows “Comments are closed” (and the comment icon is dimmed). Is it a known bug? For those accessing on the desktop and mobile websites, they can comment on my posts, but not by using Jetpack app. Thank you in advance for your support.

Thanks, Animesh, for your help. Actually, I now know the reason, which is I didn’t opt in to use “Jetpack Comments”. To me, I don’t really like how we are (kind of) forced to activate Jetpack Comments in order to let people comment using Jetpack app. I still want to use the default WordPress comment form on my desktop/mobile website, because I have no control over CSS used for Jetpack Comments.

Hello @joey4j – I understand your concern. The activation of Jetpack comments is indeed a feature that allows people to comment using the Jetpack app. This is because the Jetpack app relies on certain functionalities provided by Jetpack Comments.

To provide you with the most accurate information, I will check with the team that specializes in the Jetpack app features to confirm. I or someone from my team will get back to you once we have more information from them. I sincerely appreciate your patience here! ??

@joey4j – I checked with the team, and currently, the Jetpack app doesn’t support the comment feature unless the Jetpack Comments is enabled.

From what I read in your request, it sounds like the most efficient way to create a feature request here.

Our dedicated team will take a look at that and get back to you with questions or feedback if needed.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions or doubts, and we’re happy to assist you.

Hi @joey4j – thanks for doing that. I hope your request gets considered and, if it’s implemented, enhances your experience with the product or service. I’m marking this topic as resolved now. But If you have any further related questions, you’re welcome to reply here and mark this topic as “not resolved” from the left sidebar of this topic (example) or open another thread for a new topic.

It’s interesting that one can reply to an existing comment through the JetPack app, even though JetPack comments are not enabled (and I really do not want to do that, like others, I don’t want to be forced to do that!) I used to like JetPack, but I like it less and less as time goes by.

    Hi @hollyjahangiri

It sounds like this may be an issue in the Jetpack app. Please post a bug report on either:

depending on which version of the Jetpack app you are using. This will get the issue in front of our mobile team.

Thanks. I’m not a developer, so going to your Github link is a bit overwhelming. Maybe just pass this whole thread to your mobile team for me? Note that it IS resolved by enabling Jetpack comments, but like @joey4j, I don’t like being FORCED to enable Jetpack comments to make it work. I didn’t like being forced to install a new app when the old WordPress app worked better, either.

I second what Holly said. The native www.remarpro.com commenting system is also my preference but, since so many people use the Jetpack app, that is likely a reason why comment counts are down! I hope something will be done to change this, soon.
