Comments appear before approval by author.

  • When a comment is made, I have it set to be moderated by the author before appearing on the page. What happens, however, is this…An email goes to the author with notification of the new comment. That’s good. The problem is, the comment is posted anyway…before it can be approved by the author.

    I can’t figure out how to keep comments from being seen until they are approved. I have everything checked that should be. Could this be a problem with the most recent WordPress update?

  • Are you using a third-party theme or one that came with the WordPress install?

    It could be your theme is not checking for those WordPress comment settings you’ve configured to determine whether or not to show a comment. I’d double check your theme files to resolve this issue.
