Comments and News Feed not working or displayed right

Comments form/box gone. Instead, page of solid text/code/data file(?)displayed on site, yet dashboard view looks ok. Recently upgraded to 3.0.4 and wondering if that could be the culprit? Any ideas at all welcomed…(Newbie).
