Commenting turned off – still receive comments email

  • I turned off comments completely after being spammed like crazy. SPAM Karma takes care of all the SPAM and filtered these out but how can actually comments be posted when I turned it off in the admin area?

  • You have to delete the file wp-comments-post.php – just shutting off comments still allows that file to be abused by spammers.

    Also, simple turning off comments via Options/Discussions only disables comments for future posts. Using this method, you would have to manually edit each past entry to disable comments.

    If you want to quickly and effectively disable comments, delete the wp-comments-post.php file as suggested above.
