commenting page troubles

  • I’ve got a bunch of things going on with my comment page. Just today, I had a friend tell me he gets the “Sorry, no posts match your criteria” error when he tried to comment. I’ve been up on WP for almost a month, and have had no troubles with this before. I tried to duplicate his error on IE6, (with a clean cache and cookies), and got the same error. I then tried it on Firefox (without cookies/cache cleared), and got the same error again. Any suggestions?

    ALSO, when my comments page comes up in IE, the sidebar on the left drops to the bottom right of the page, and the post starts halfway down the page (aligned with the bottom of the right sidebar). This is probably just something I deleted in my CSS, but it only does it in IE, not Firefox. Again, any suggestions?

    And finally (though more cosmetically than anything), where do I find the code to narrow the post box for comments? Right now it extends way past the right sidebar, and is an eyesore. I’d love to be able to narrow it down to stay within the center column, I just can’t find where that might be.

    Okay, problems 2 & 3 solved. (I found the size for the comments box, it’s in the wp-comments.php script!) And fixing the size of that apparently fixes the second problem, which is good.

    Now for the biggie… I’m looking back through that other thread on this (first one if you search “criteria”), but no luck understanding it, much less applying it.

    Still no luck. I’ve deleted cache and cookies on two separate computers with both IE6 and Firefox, but still get the same error. I deleted the wp-comments.php file and replaced it with one from a fresh download of WP, and made sure all plug-ins are deactivated. Still, I get the “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.” error when trying to submit a comment.
