• I just converted from WP.com to WP.org. I have not been receiving comments and when I did some researching I notice that on WP.com sites people can plug in their name/email/URL but on WP.org it says the user must be “logged in” to WP before they comment.

    Can I change this?

  • Spend some time exploring your options when logged in — you have a lot more now!

Check the Discussion page under Settings. At a minimum, you’ll want to uncheck “Users must be registered and logged in to comment “

    Hope that helps.

Yes in the admin go to Settings then Discussion. You will find the options under Other Comment Settings.

[x] Users must be registered and logged in to comment

Chris, you’re awesome, I am hoping unchecking that option will help!

Thanks, I appreciate your patience as I try to navigate this new frontier ??

    And Dave, thank you!

Dare I say it? Oh what the hell …

In the Codex – the first page you see for the forums – there is a link that says “getting started with WP”. It is advisable that new WP users read it, or it would not be there.

Saurus, yes, I have been reading through Codex – for days. Perhaps I missed that tiny piece of information? And while I understand the frustration seeing “obvious” questions, you could just, dare I say, refrain from answering.
