Commenting is really, really slow :(

  • Hi,

    I have problems with commenting on my blog.

    It takes forever for the page reload after someone clicks submit on the comment form.

    And when I have to approve/reply to comments, it takes forever for the comment form to handle it.

    Forever is something like 5-8 seconds.

    I’m quite sure it’s not a server issue as my pages, etc. loads in ~1 second. The only thing that is slow is the commenting.

    Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

  • That actually sounds not too out of the ordinary. Although 8 sec would be a bit on the slow side.
    Comments involve more processing than just loading a page, athough that really depends on what’s on the page.

    Otherwise, I’ve never heard of anyhthng that would specifically cause comment submission and posting to be slow.

    I have heard of slow comments due to multiple spam plugins, not up to date ones, or ones that hit a server that is slow.

    Haven’t got any spam plugins beside Akismet.
