I updated to 7.1.3. two weeks ago. People could comment just fine. But suddenly, since yesterday, no one except for admin could comment. The site would display the “Commenting is closed” message, even though the comments were in fact not closed. The error disappeared after downgrading to 7.1.0.

    Hi,

At first, go to Dashboard > Discussion > Settings tab and make sure:
    1. Allow people to post comments on new articles option is enabled
    2. Automatically close comments on articles older than X days option is disabled.

Check your antispam/security plugins, make sure you’ve correctly configured the settings of those plugins.

I had the same issue, suddenly non-registered users couldn’t comment.
I dunno if it was Discuz or WordPress update, but one setting was f’ed up.
you need to go to comment forms (/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wpdiscuz_form)
Edit whatever form you use (good chance is there’s only one), find section
“Display comment form for post types” 2 sections above the layout picker
and tick all three or whatever you need (they got unticked at some point for me, and were marked red). After saving the form, it should work fine.
